In the SAA we believe in progressive training; small progressive meaningful steps that lead to the required qualification. This has been proven to be benificial to the trainee and candidate, allowing time for the consolidation of knowledge and skills.
Furthermore, we place great emphasis on safety, which is more than just the in-water component. We consider the person as a whole: age, maturity and strength. The following limitations are concerned with keeping the trainees and candidates within their physical, mental and strength abilities.
On Training Dives, trainees and candidates must be accompanied by an Open Water Instructor or above who is qualified to at least the diver grade being taught. For experience-only dives, the buddy may be a Dive Leader or above.
Depth and other limitations during training.
Depth and other limitations imposed on trainees and candidates during training to facilitate:
- Safety.
- Progressive Training.
- Constructed Experience.
- Growth and Physical factors - ensuring young people are not over strained.
